I went into my soon-to-be place of work today. Turns out the place I got is covering for someone who’s going to be on maternity leave, so if she chooses to come back once she’s had the baby, I’m probably only going to be working here for about nine months.
I’m going to be working 16 hours a week, which isn’t bad. Means I’ll be raking in about £375 (before tax unfortunately) a month. Which ain’t bad. Ain’t bad at all. Unfortunately, one of my shifts is going to be on a Thursday, 6-10pm. As I have college on Thursdays, it may be cutting it a bit short sometimes, what with college perhaps running past the 4 o’ clock finishing time, and then the GODAWFUL bus service.
I hate buses so fucking much. More often than not, they’re late, and if not, they leave earlier than they’re scheduled to.
There’s no winning, goddammit!
Allee Says:
Word on the buses thing. The bus service where I live is usually not bad, but as soon as snow starts to fall (which is, umm, pretty much everyday now), for some reason, all of the buses begin to arrive ridiculously late. It took me forty minutes to get to work today, for example - a trip that usually only takes me ten. Lameee.
Jem Says:
9 months is better than nothing - gives you time to find something better / more up your street / whatever.
Good luck with the bus thing. Pfft. Mine always arrive too early or stupidly late. Fucking public transport can kiss my ass.
Kaylee Says:
I don’t have too much trouble with buses (I live in the same city as Allee!) but when you miss one or it’s late, it can pretty much screw everything up. Good luck!
Wendy Says:
I am looking forward to some extra income soon as well, managed to get a part-time tutoring job yesterday
So good luck to both of us in our new job!
