Murphy, You Bastard!

So, guess what? My PS3 broke. Guess what else? The warranty ended less than a week ago. And unfortunately, it’s not a simple thing that I could just fix on my own. It’s pretty serious - the Blu-Ray laser’s broken. Which means I can’t play PS3 games on it.

Well, isn’t that great.

So I’ve fired an email off to Sony, asking them their advice on what to do. It’s inevitably going to have to be sent off to get fixed or replaced, but I can’t imagine either of those options being too cheap since I no longer have the safety net that is the warranty.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a truer example of Sod’s (Murphy’s) Law in my life.

Anyway, eye screening went fine yesterday. Was in and out in a couple of minutes. The photos get sent down to Aberdeen, so I have to wait an agonising month to find out whether or not my eyes have become damaged by the diabetes. Hopefully they won’t, since they’ve been fine the past three years.

Hopefully.

Anyway, I better scoot; I’ve got to leave for college in a few minutes. I have a mock Software Development assessment.

I have learnt to purchase extended warranties with all my electronic goods because Mr. Murphy loves to mess with me. I’ve had three laptops, two iPods and two refrigerators in the past 2 years. I’m waiting for my digital camera to follow suit.

Here’s hoping it doesn’t cost the world to get your PS3 fixed. I know that non Blu-Ray lasers aren’t too expensive to replace, but it might be a different story with the new technology of Blu-Ray. Good luck!

Dude, I would have been so PISSED. Doesn’t a PS3 cost 3298983098493024 dollars or something? My PSP is precious, if anything ever happened to it I would go mad because I don’t have an extended warranty on that either.

I did get an extended warranty on my Macbook Pro, and thank godness, because the cd drive doesn’t work anymore, and there is like 40 dead pixels on the screen.

Well, good luck with the PS3. Hopefully it wont cost you an arm, both legs, and an eyeball to get it fixed.

If anything happened to my PS3 I’d be really peeved off!
I hope you get yours fixed and that it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

I will have a PS3 someday (hopefully) and I will listen to Nellie’s advice and buy extended guarantee. Don’t you feel good that you’ve given a lesson to anonymous web lurkers to buy extended guarantee, I think this means something, you’re up for something big dude!

Good luck with it though, I’m sure there should be a resolution, try looking on gaming forums and stuff. I bet one of those l337 gamers know how to help ya.

Hi. I have Diabetes type 2. I should get my retinas looked at but… the exam is costly and I don’t really have cash to burn… Sorry about your gaming console. My bff and I are getting (we hope) a wii. =)
